Mailchimp started its Partnership program a few years ago, as a development from the former Mailchimp Experts Directory. I’ve been the first Italian Expert to join the Directory, followed by many others, as my friends in Moca Interactive, who attended the very first Partner Lab in Atlanta in 2018 (I would have gone the following year, you can see me in the picture amongst other partners).
In 2020 the Partner Program evolved to Mailchimp&co, a global community of agencies and freelancers who use Mailchimp to help their clients grow their businesses; being one of the five coordinators of the Partners Slack community, I’ve seen from a privileged point of view the many opportunities who have arisen so far.
In this post I’ve asked some fellow colleagues and Mailchimp Experts what do they get from being Partners.
Being a Mailchimp Partner has a lot of perks. First of all, it’ll help your business. You’ll be a part of the Partner Directory and you’ll get connected with other Mailchimp customers that need help with their marketing. So there’s money to be made there. You’ll also have access to additional training and resources, and an awesome Slack channel managed by several highly knowledgable moderators. And if that’s not enough, there are financial incentives, premium support, special events, and a great newsletter. It’s a wonderful opportunity for any email marketing agency or freelancer.

The main benefit is access to the Mailchimp teams. Mailchimp hire great people and being able to lean on them to help our clients is awesome. Best benefit ever!

There are many benefits of being a Mailchimp Partner. The partner team at Mailchimp are on it. They are super supportive, and the whole MC team have your back. They listen to your feedback and genuinely care.

The financial benefits are also many; being the market leader, being an expert gives you a platform to work with their customer base, which is vast.

If you’d asked me a year ago, I’d have said that getting priority access to the chimps via the help function would have been my main thing (and to be honest, I use this multiple times each week anyways)… but the last year has been a strange one and there’s three other benefits that you should definitely know about.

1. The Experts Directory and leads – sometimes the quality of some of the leads you get is “variable… but the visibility you get can really help promote your business.
2. The Credibility – being able to call yourself a Mailchimp Partner instantly lends credibility to your offering – and separates you from all those Fiverr gigs in terms of knowledge and skillset.
3. My Mailchimp chums – and this is a biggie. The slack channel has been revolutionary in terms of connecting me up with other partners around the world. We get to chat, discuss, complain, advise, mentor, and contribute… and I can say that the contacts and friends I’ve made from this have been the biggest plus point of them all.

Our business grew exponentially since becoming an official Mailchimp Partner, but my favorite perk has been meeting and connecting with other Mailchimp experts from around the world. This Partner community is incredible and a wealth of knowledge that I can now tap into daily – and that is a huge benefit. We also get to have “Ask Me Anything” events with various Mailchimp employees. We recently had Eric Muntz, the CTO, and Natasha Williams, the Chief Product Officer, come chat with us on Slack. Super fun. And of course, the priority chat support is a huge perk (which means Partners support tickets move to the front of the line!) Our clients love that.

Connecting with my peers has been the greatest benefit that I’ve enjoyed as a partner. As a remote agency, even before the pandemic, finding and interacting with other agency owners and email professionals was limited to a conference or two every year. Now I can reach out at any time to someone who truly understands where I’m at. They can help to find an answer to my question, provide support for a challenge or just laugh together about all the crazy that comes with this chosen profession.

The main benefit is… the other Mailchimp Partners!

It’s so comforting to know that I have a safe space to ask questions about Mailchimp and business. I love having friends I can talk to during the day even though I’m in my office, in my house, in my workjamas, and I haven’t been out of my house except to walk my dog for days. Otherwise, I wouldn’t talk to anyone except my dog and myself.
And I’m super boring cause I know all the answers to my questions 🤣

There are the obvious benefits of being acknowledged as a proven expert and having access to official Mailchimp certifications. Another thing that I find highly helpful is the priority support, it solves a lot of issues and gives my clients fast access to Mailchimp help.
The monthly AMA in Partners Slack channel is always so informative, and a fantastic way to give feedback and talk directly to people involved in product development and Mailchimp evolution, and we’ve seen much of our feedback heard and put into practice.
Most of all, being part of a global community means sharing common problems and solutions, getting to know interesting people, and being known: I’ve been involved in beta tests, group chats, Zoom calls, I’ve even been forced to write and talk almost daily in English and my English has improved (or at least I’ve started to feel more comfortable with it).
